Not quite as intense as the Rigby Retractor, but much easier to use; I found the Dr.Assman Barr Anal Retractor to slide in easily. It does a great job of spreading open the hole for a thorough exam. The tube shaped spreader is made of stainless steel and it feels ever so good on its way in!
